Early in the year, our MS program in Applied Economics puts on an annual F1 Visa Alumni Panel, a discussion and event that’s an opportunity for students to socialize, network, and gain insight from former F1 visa students who have graduated from the Applied Economics program at University of Maryland and are successfully working in the Washington, DC area. The discussion focused on the transition into employment for international students who are on F1 visas while enrolled in our program.
This year’s panelists (below) spoke about their different work areas as well as strategies for successfully finding a job in economics after finishing the program:
- Pooja Ravi (’23 grad): Formerly worked at Xome, currently at Ernst & Young.
- Aayushi Gupta (’23 grad): Worked at Center for Global Sustainability, currently at World Bank.
- Aniruddh Dutta (’23 grad): Has been working as an analyst at Econ One Research.
- Fuda Jiang (’19 grad): Formerly worked at IMF, currently at World Bank.
- Anom Dule (’23 grad): Currently at World Bank
We also had the invaluable Jody Heckman-Bose, Associate Director of the university’s International Student and Scholar Service (ISSS), join our panel to answer questions and clarify processes for F1 students.
